Pasteurization is a heating method in the food industry to purify nutrients from disease-causing microorganisms. Plate pasteurizers consist of a series of plates. There are high temperature resistant gaskets between the plates. These gaskets prevent the liquids passing through the plates from mixing with each other. The plates are 95-125 mm thick and made of stainless steel. The grooves on the plate provide turbulent filling and increase the heat transfer surface and extend the heat contact time of the liquid.
